Hello friends of CannaVigilance,
We’ve hit the halfway mark of the year and from here on it’s all downhill to Christmas, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The year may have started slow, but we are seeing the last remnants of the plague being washed away and an industry that is streaking ahead at a very fast pace. This makes us very happy. There are also a few other things that make us happy. Read on to find out.
In this country report, we turn our attention to Mexico, where the socio-economic and political landscape has been heavily impacted by drugs, creating challenges affected by corruption. Despite marijuana's deep-rooted presence in Mexican society, its acceptance is questioned due to conservative Catholicism and criminal associations. In response, the Mexican government has shifted its "war on drugs" policy, decriminalising small amounts of narcotics in 2009 and legalising personal cannabis cultivation in 2015. Limited medical cannabis use was also permitted. In 2018, Mexico's Supreme Court declared adult use cannabis prohibition unconstitutional, leading to the approval of a bill to legalise recreational marijuana in 2021. However, implementation and ongoing challenges remain.

Temperature plays a critical role in maintaining the right balance of humidity through Vapour Pressure Deficit (VPD). Heat creates negative pressure, drawing water through the plant to deliver essential nutrients. Maintaining the right heat and humidity balance is crucial for optimal growth. Marc Montandon from Carbonactive emphasises the importance of a stable environment in cannabis growth, as changes in heat can affect humidity levels and hinder the plant's ability to absorb CO2, leading to improper growth. Outdoor cultivation benefits from natural elements like sun and wind, while indoor growing relies on heat to stimulate airflow and remove excess moisture. Mastering heat management is key to ensuring healthy and nutrient-rich cannabis plants.
