Meet the team: Elias Galantay

In our regularly published Meet the Team series we want to introduce all the technical, business and creative minds behind Cannavigia. Today we are proud to present Elias Galantay, co-founder and Head of Consulting.  

Elias, what do you do at Cannavigia?

I am Head of Consulting at Cannavigia and the product owner of the Cultivation Module. My job is to make sure that the first module fulfils all the compliance requirements and is as user-friendly as possible. With my extensive background in cultivating the cannabis plant on different continents and under different regulations, I am therefore making sure that all the needs of the cultivators as well as regulatory requirements are heard and unified in the Cannavigia software.

What are your favourite features of the software?

There are so many features that I appreciate as a cultivator in the software. If I had to pick one, it would be the reports in the Cultivation Journal where I can see what has happened with the plants at any given time. I'm excited about integrating the data from the IOT devices with the Cultivation Journal to make it even more powerful as a tool to analyse and learn about every batch produced.

What is the most exciting development that you went through in the last year?

For me, the most exciting development is to see how customers use the software on a daily basis and how satisfied they are with it. It makes me proud when companies with a GACP certificate use the software for their audits and when I can accompany them through this process from A to Z.  

Where do you see the Cannabis Industry going and why do you think transparency and compliance has a justified place in it?

It depends on which part of the cannabis industry and which country you look at. In Europe, there is a new momentum for medical cannabis. And for any medical product, transparency and compliance are crucial - you need a tracking system. It will also be interesting to see where the development of cannabis for recreational use takes us. In this part of the industry, I see transparency as an enabler for future legalization. And we shouldn't forget about hemp as an industrial product - I see this area really growing in the coming years. Consumers are placing more and more importance on sustainability, and that's where transparency and compliance in industrial hemp come in.
