Behind every successful company is a motivated team with people that are sitting together in the trenches and bringing our vision further one day at a time. We are happy and proud to share more about the creatives, the tech team and the general ecosystem of people that have brought CANNAVIGIA to where it is today.

Today we proudly present you our Product Manager Jan Kenel.

After successfully completing his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Pharmacy at the University of Basel and graduating as a pharmacist in 2016, Jan helped build up a successful cannabis start-up. With his background and more than three years of experience in production, process development and building an SME, he brings a wealth of experience to the table.

Jan, what do you do at Cannavigia?

I work on and manage Module 2 (Manufacturing) at Cannavigia. Bringing GMP principles into the software and making it easier for the end-user to manage their manufacturing and quality tasks. In my studies to become a pharmacist, I learned how strict manufacturing has to be to ensure the quality. From my experience as a production manager and building a startup company I have learned what the pitfalls are when quality, cost effectiveness and time pressure collide. Having a software that can mitigate these issues is vital in ensuring the safety and quality of the final product.

What is your favorite feature of the software and why?

Most definitely the QR code on the final product. The cannabis market has issues with transparency due to its limited regulation. Giving the consumer easy access to all product information is vital. Knowing where the product is coming from, what exactly it is and how it was produced is something most consumers want to know about any product.

WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING DEVELOPMENT THAT YOU WERE PART OF SINCE YOU JOINED THE TEAM?

Integrating the array of new features into the software like product quality control, sample management and the article structure, to name just a few. Receiving feedback from customers and seeing how the software improves with every update is an inspiring reward.

Where do you see the cannabis industry going and why do you think transparency and compliance has a justified place in it?

I see the cannabis industry being professionalized. What once was an operation behind closed doors, is now an official accepted business. Cannabis products have been coming from the illicit market for decades and have garnered a bad reputation. Cases like flowers treated with synthetic cannabinoids or pesticide contaminated products damaged the trust of consumers.

The only way out of that bad image is through transparency and compliance. I believe only companies that will be able to produce clean and compliant products will persevere.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love hiking and making a fire on the way to the destination to prepare my food, there's something primal and satisfying about being in nature and building a fire. For sports I run, do bodyweight exercises and the occasional yoga with my girlfriend. Playing board and video games, building computers and electronics are my indoor hobbies.
